Fire breaks out on Bond movie set

First they left the script in a bar and now this....

A BLAZE broke out today on the set of the latest James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which broke out just before 8.30pm (AEST) at Pinewood Studios, about 30km west of London, Buckinghamshire Fire Brigade said.

Eight fire engines were called to the scene of the 007 set, officials said.

Television footage showed plumes of smoke rising from the building, with the roof of the set charred and caved in.

Roads near the studio were briefly shut down but the blaze was contained and no one was hurt, said Vicky Evans, a spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police.

The vast 007 stage had been transformed into a replica of the Italian city of Venice, where part of the film is set.

Casino Royale, due for release in October, will be the first featuring new James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

Craig was chosen last year to replace Pierce Brosnan as British super-spy Bond.
