Pirates of the Caribbean - some thoughts
verall - fun movie! - pretty much what I expected.
this movie is more like the ride than the first one was - especially the scene on Tortuga island. cool scene!
the movie was more a bunch of action sequences strung together - very weak plot. some things didn't make much sense or didn't have to make much sense. for example they seemed to be able to sail to any number of places in the caribbean instantaneously.
voodoo west indies woman was cool - liked her - almost needed subtitles for her at times.
the action sequences (more than half of the movie) were well done and had clever elements - mostly things rolling down hills.
johnny depp did a fine job - continued the jack sparrow persona. He had a couple really funny lines.
other main characters - there wasn't much too them - they didn't get a chance to shine.
side pirate characters - well cast and well done
half the adults I know who have seen it have hated this movie, and the other half really liked it - not much in between.
