hd dvd and blu-ray crossover
Seeing as there are many film companies afraid to back the wrong format, there are some compromises being made. there are hd dvd's being released with regular dvd format on one side of the disc and the hd format on the other side so that people need not be concerned on buying new dvd's that will be useless in the future. Also, there will be new discs with hd format on one side and blu-ray on the other. This one more than the dvd/ hd dvd combo is to prevent concern for companies backing the wrong format. The blu-ray/hd dvd combo is supposed to begin with 'Superman Returns'. Another route that is being taken is that there will be dual players, to prevent competition over disc formats. Although these appear to be going to cost around £1,000. Which, although I do love hi def format I am not willing to pay
